Grantley Adams International Airport guide

Grantley Adams International Airport sits at Seawell, in the south-eastern part of Christ Church parish, about 13 km from Bridgetown. It is the only commercial airport in Barbados and handled 2,417,065 passengers in 2025, around 5 percent more than in 2019.

The site began as Seawell Airport, and a KLM mail plane landed there in September 1938. In 1976 it was renamed after Sir Grantley Adams, the first Premier of Barbados. GAIA Inc. operates it for the Government of Barbados.

Two connected buildings work as one terminal, with 23 ground-level gates. The former Concorde hangar next door was converted in November 2024 into a departures terminal for sea-air passengers. A terminal expansion project is under way. A single asphalt runway, 09/27, is about 3,350 m long and takes wide-body jets from Europe and North America. Caribbean Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Air Canada and Virgin Atlantic are among the main carriers, and InterCaribbean Airways uses the airport as its hub for regional flights.
