Mackay Airport (ICAO YBMK) sits in the suburb of South Mackay on the central Queensland coast, a few kilometres from the city centre. It is the main gateway for the Mackay region and for travellers heading to the Whitsunday coast, the Eungella National Park and the Bowen Basin coalfields.

The aerodrome opened in April 1930 and received its licence in March 1931. Its passenger terminal dates from 1953. The airport handled 902,355 passengers in the 2024-25 financial year, mostly on flights to Brisbane, with further links to Cairns, Rockhampton and Townsville.

Mackay Airport Pty Ltd operates the airport as part of North Queensland Airports, which also runs Cairns Airport. The company is privately owned by a consortium of infrastructure investors. The airport was sold to private owners in November 2008. The cross runway closed in 2016 and part of it now serves as a taxiway, leaving runway 14/32 as the only active runway. Cargo operators Pel-Air and Toll Aviation also fly from the airport. An Ibis hotel stands on site.
