Hughenden Airport sits about 4 km north-east of Hughenden, a small town on the Flinders Highway in north-west Queensland. Its ICAO code is YHUG. Flinders Shire Council owns and runs the aerodrome.

The airport opened in 1963. Its main runway, 12/30, is 1,644 m of asphalt. A shorter gravel strip, 09/24, runs across the site. Council rebuilt the main runway, taxiway and apron in June 2014 in a project costing about $9 million. The work raised the runway by 200 mm to resist flooding, added LED aeronautical ground lighting and used foamed bitumen, reputedly a first for a new runway in Australia. The pavement now takes a Dash 8-300 carrying 50 passengers.

Rex Airlines links Hughenden with Townsville, Richmond, Julia Creek and Mount Isa. Services on the Townsville to Mount Isa route call at Hughenden on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Townsville is about 376 km away by road, so the flights save a long drive across the outback.
