Brisbane Airport sits on 2,700 hectares of reclaimed land at the mouth of the Brisbane River, about 16 km northeast of the city centre. It is Australia's third-busiest airport by passenger numbers, handling 23.3 million passengers in 2024 across 218,000 aircraft movements. The airport operates 24 hours a day and connects Brisbane to 62 domestic and 32 international destinations.

The airport is owned and operated by Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) under a long-term lease from the federal government. A second parallel runway, completed in July 2020, significantly increased capacity and reduced delays. Both Qantas and Virgin Australia use BNE as a hub, with Jetstar, Rex, Link Airways, and Alliance Airlines also maintaining bases here.

International traffic has grown sharply since 2022, with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines all launching or expanding US routes. Emirates operates the only A380-accessible lounge outside Dubai at the International Terminal. A major $5 billion redevelopment — Future BNE — is underway, with the International Terminal undergoing significant upgrades ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
