Northern Peninsula Airport sits near the northern tip of Cape York Peninsula in Queensland. It serves the Northern Peninsula Area, a group of communities that includes Bamaga, Seisia, Injinoo, Umagico and New Mapoon. Locally it is also called Bamaga Airport, and its ICAO code is YNPE.

The site began as a Second World War airfield in late 1942, built as a dispersal base for bombers and known first as Jacky Jacky Field. It was renamed Higgins Field in 1943, after Flight Lieutenant Brian Hartley Higgins, who died on air operations in May 1943. The wreck of a Beaufort bomber lies north of the runway, and a preserved DC-3 war memorial stands about 3 km to the north-east.

The Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council manages the airport. Skytrans flies daily return services from Cairns. Charter flights link Weipa, Horn Island and the Torres Strait Islands, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Royal Australian Air Force also use the field. Flights keep the area connected year-round, when wet-season flooding can cut the roads.
