Ramingining Airport Guide
Ramingining Airport (ICAO YRNG) is a small community airstrip in East Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. It lies about 3.7 km south-west of Ramingining, an Aboriginal community of mainly Yolngu people on the edge of the Arafura Swamp, roughly 560 km east of Darwin.
The airport has one sealed runway, 09/27, which is 1,380 m long. Its elevation is 63 m (206 ft). The Ramingining Community Council Inc. operates it. The Australian Government provided $32,965 for security upgrades at the airport in 2005.
The airport has no airline terminal in the usual sense and publishes no passenger statistics. Scheduled and charter services link the community with Darwin and Gove, and Wikipedia lists Fly Tiwi and Mission Aviation Fellowship as operators. Road access across the wet-season floodplains is unreliable, so flying is the main way in and out of the community for much of the year.
