Canberra Airport guide

Updated 2026-10-08

Canberra Airport is the main airport for Australia's capital, about 8 kilometres from the city centre in the suburb of Pialligo. It grew from an airstrip laid down in the 1920s, and the RAAF took over the site in 1939. The Australian Government leased it to a private operator in 1998 on a 99-year lease.
