Khost International Airport guide

Khost International Airport serves Khost, the capital of Khost Province in eastern Afghanistan. The IATA code is KHT and the ICAO code is OAKS. The airport lies in Mandozayi District, about 15 km southwest of the city.

Construction began in late 2011. Until the new airport was finished, civilian passengers used NATO's Sehra Bagh Airport. President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the airport in July 2021, and a Kam Air flight from the United Arab Emirates landed soon after the ceremony. Taliban forces took control of the airport in August 2021.

The airport has one asphalt runway, designated 06/24, which measures 2,664 m by 45 m. The Government of Afghanistan owns the airport and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation operates it. Kam Air and Ariana Afghan Airlines have flown scheduled services to destinations in the Gulf, Kabul and Jeddah. The Ministry of Defense has also used the airport for emergency relief flights, including after the June 2022 earthquake.
