Delma Airport guide

Delma Airport (also spelled Dalma, ICAO OMDL) serves Delma Island, a roughly 45 square kilometre island in the Persian Gulf, part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. About 42 kilometres of open water separate the island from the Abu Dhabi coast, and the airport is the island's quickest link to the mainland.

The airfield has a single asphalt runway, 17/35, about 2,500 metres long. It sits close to the island's schools and homes. The airport takes small and medium-sized aircraft and handles both passenger and cargo flights. Traffic is light, at around 180 aircraft movements a month.

Scheduled flights run to Abu Dhabi International Airport and take about 45 minutes. Abu Dhabi Aviation has flown the route for the Abu Dhabi government, with Dash 8 turboprops on a service free of charge to island residents. The alternative is a ferry crossing that takes two to three hours. Global Air Navigation Services has provided aerodrome control at the airport since 2009 and received its civil certificate in 2016.
